Landlocked Salmon and Brown Trout Rounded out my day

It has rained heaps this month, but today the water levels were OK to wade the Kennebec for the first time in over a week. I put the coffee mug next to me and drove to Solon where I tried several spots. The water temp was 65 and there were rising fish. Where you'd normally see small Chubs rising in the soft water, there were young Brook Trout!...scads of them, eager to eat my little bead head caddis emerger and high-floating Caddis.

Dry fly action was good, as when I saw a rising fish, a good drift would bring a take. I saw my friend, Craig Denis and Bo, his trusty 1st mate Dog cruising the river. The sun was out with clouds. Hatches included small Baetis and Stone Flies, with Caddis in tan the main food item.
