Notebook Archive August water temps at the East Outlet hover around the 73-degree mark and mid-day surface action was difficult today because of a stubborn upstream wind. We had to search for rising fish, but once we found them, getting a good drift was tough. Caddis and Mayfly patterns worked when presented well and the Madam X brought a few slaps, but overall, this was a tough fly fishing day. Thanks to Fred and his wife Terry, we had a gourmet lunch, complete with Guinness Stout. I'm spoiled for good.
